Yesterday we started packing and I got rid of:
2 crock pots
2 roaster ovens
a microwave
3 telephones
an answering machine
numerous lamps
coffee pot (we have used a French Press for years anyways, this was in the back of a closet)
toaster oven
potpourri warmer
CAPPRESSO Coffee Grinder
9 radios between us!!! (WASTE)
We are keeping 3 radios, one for the kitchen, the center of the home (my antique BUSCH RADIO, cannot part with that and it runs on batteries, a similar radio to the above photo, a HIS KIDS RADIO, and one radio with a cassette player)
A FAN***
More electronics going today. We have a cool battery pack to run my hubby's CPAP machine on and I can use that for a few small gadgets like a hair dryer, iron, oh yes, the flat iron for teenagers :).
***the fan on low... A BIG CHANGE THAT I STARTED ENACTING LAST EVENING: A FAN IN OUR 11 1/2 MONTH OLD'S BEDROOM... TAKING IT AWAY... I SIT HERE BLEARY EYED AND NOT BUSHY TAILED AS I WAS UP 7 TIMES IN THE NIGHT... I CUT THE NIGHT LIGHT IN THE NURSERY TOO (THE FULL MOON HELPED, NOT)... I GUESS WE HAVE TO WORK ON THIS. He was such a great sleeper until last night... I had great sleep until last night :)
We are packing more today! THANKS PETE! More to get rid off. I have been doing lots of bedding laundry...
Took a hot bath in my beautiful antique claw foot bathtub last night... thinking I will have to redo this set-up somehow...
We are moving the wood stove up north tonight. Nights are cold now and even cooler up there. We had a hard frost last eve. Temps last night went down to the 30's...
More updates coming with some live streaming video, maybe...

You are going to be one busy lady! I hope you find time to update as I really am looking forward to sharing your journey thru your blog. hugs my friend
Okay... so what kind of music or news will you be able to listen to in your amish community? Do you have amish neighbors? And how far away is the closest town/hospital?
CONGRATULATIONS!
The Amish life is simple!!; but it is a lot of work.
We have friends who are Amish and their homes are great. They only have what is necessary.
They have simple clothes and wear long aprons to protect them so they don't have to be washed quite so often. The men have aprons to "muck" in also. Many clothes are hung up on pegs to air and are worn another day during that week. Only warm quilts and down comforter are needed.
Washing dishes are at a minimum with only a few for each person. Many meals are good but simple. Canning is a necessity.
You of all people will be able to do this. Where God leads he will provide what you need and good neighbors to help.
I'm so happy for you.
Kim
Looks like a lot of work - good luck!
Wow changes can be alot of work hang in there it will get easier!
Living off the grid is something I aspire to. I will be watching your journey with envy in hopes of collecting ideas for the future.
Great pictures of packing and moving day! Loved the one of the children hugging the microwave. We tossed ours out, along with the tv shortly after we moved in to our temp home on Adams. I was looking for more counter space, and it didn't seem right to be standing directly in front of it when doing dishes while pregnant (my momma always told me not to do that at any time). We haven't missed it one bit! Oh, you are going to do just fine...the children will love all that SPACE outdoors! God bless you! Hope that lil babe sleeps well tonight!
Wow..I'm so glad I found this blog..you and your family are doing what I've longer to do..but truthfully never dared..I am thrilled to be able to follow along and see how this progresses.
Best of luck and many blessings. I really admire what you are doing!
Take care,
Doreen
