our first "off-grid" Christmas tree...

We haven't really missed the white twinkling lights... Maybe next year we will invest in some battery lights or maybe not... We cut this Colorado Blue Spruce from Grandpa's property! Thanks Grandpa!

well, you could attempt the old-fashioned method of lighting up a tree: candles. lol. it's beautiful.

It's a beautiful tree!

My grandparents were from Dutch & German stock...I still remember them putting the clip-on candles on their tree.

Lovely tree! One of my favorite Christmas memories revolve around not having a traditional tree. I lived in Mali, West Africa for a short term missions project years ago. We went looking for a pine tree substitute but only found a dried up bean plant -- it looked like a tumbleweed. My friends and I made cut out paper snowflakes and decorated it with tinsel (someone's parents shipped it to us from home). We were homesick and hot for Christmas but we had our own special gift exchange (pineapple juice and hand crafted beads) in front of a unique "tree".
