Merry Christmas Cookies! xo A family favorite!

Saturday Baking Day!

This time of year a real family favorite of ours is banket (a dutch pastry) and roll out sugar cookies with my Grandmother's tried and VERY true butter icing recipe!

This is my cousin Wendy's recipe:

Christmas cut out cookies
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla
3/4 cup of sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsps baking powder

Cream butter with sugar until fluffy.  Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift in flour, salt and baking powder together.  Work into butter and egg mixture.  Chill 2 hours.  Roll out 1/8 inch on board. Cut into desired shapes and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400 for 8 minutes

My dear Grandma Issie's Butter Icing
Blend 1/3 of a cup of soft butter with 3 cups of powdered sugar.  Beat in 3 tablespoons of milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla.  Use for cakes, cinnamon rolls and cookies!  Delicious!

We have our very own Cindy Lou Who here !!

 and Charlie Brown

So delicious! A family tradition.  Tell me one of your family traditions?

Merry Christmas!

I think we might have to make that a tradition. I'm Pinning this, and perhaps after school gets out next week we can give it a try. :)
